PLAYER INTERVIEW

Know Your Nails: Blues Women number eight Eilidh Collins

How did you come to play rugby at Heriot’s?
‘‘When I moved to Edinburgh, I was looking for a club to join and a former university teammate recommended Heriot’s. I went along to a training session and I immediately liked the atmosphere!’’

What do you enjoy about being a Heriot’s player?
‘‘I really like the atmosphere of the team and the club as a whole, I felt welcomed to the club so quickly and everyone was so friendly! The club strikes a good balance between a competitive atmosphere that pushes you to improve, while maintaining the fun element of the game and putting player enjoyment at the forefront.’’

When did you start playing rugby and why?
‘‘I started playing rugby in my first year at Glasgow University back in 2014. I had played a lot of different sports growing up but had always wanted to try rugby, and immediately I loved the physical challenge of the sport. I also loved the team atmosphere and the inclusive nature of rugby!’’

What is your favourite rugby memory?
‘‘My favourite rugby memory is probably winning the Bowl with my university team at Murrayfield in 2016. It was the first time most of us had played in front of such a big crowd, and most people had a lot of family and friends there watching. We had worked so hard that season and winning was just the absolute icing on the cake! It also happened to be my first visit to the sin bin, but apart from that it was a great game!’’
