PLAYER INTERVIEW

Know Your Nails: Blues Women prop Alison Wilson

How did you come to play rugby at Heriot’s?
I came to Heriot’s Blues Women after some friends I used to play with at Murrayfield Wanderers joined.

What do you enjoy about being a Heriot’s player?
I love being part of the Heriot’s family.  When Heriot’s Blues Women began at the club a few years ago we felt very welcomed by all of the other teams within the club.  As time has gone on the feeling hasn’t changed. From Thursday night dinners, the club bake off competition, lock down quizzes and yoga sessions there is something for everyone and everyone is always welcome.

When did you start playing rugby and why?
I started rugby in 2016 during my final year at Aberdeen University. I have competed in judo my whole life but have always had an interest in rugby. One of my friends from judo started playing rugby at university and told me to give it a try.

What is your favourite rugby memory?
My favourite rugby memory is winning the National League Division 1 title in 2019 with Heriot’s Blues Women. It was our first piece of silverware and it meant so much to the whole team. We have been on such a journey together from the start and it felt like that was the real beginning moment for our team. The start of something exciting.
