Robert ‘Robin’ Smith died on May 10, 2024 after prolonged illness.
Robin was a respected Heriot’s FP 1st XV (and Edinburgh) wing-forward in the 1960s, and then a Heriot’s Selection Committee man.
Robin’s funeral is at 10 am on Friday 24th May at Mortonhall Crematorium, and thereafter at The Merchants of Edinburgh Golf Club.

I am very sorry to hear this news and to have missed it at the time . Robin was, to me , a respected “committee man “ who quietly but effectively supported the club for many years .
I recall he drove me to Stirling for my first game for the 1st xv as a late call up meant I wasn’t able to be on the team bus . He gave me helpful insight into the opposition and the strengths and weaknesses of my own teammates in that journey. It was always good to catch up with him at Goldenacre in the following years .
