Heriot’s Rugby Club are sad to report the passing of Ronnie Scotland. We pass on our sincere condolences to the Scotland family.
Like his brother Ken, Ronnie was a good ball player and played for the FPs at both rugby and cricket . He was a regular in the 1st XV in the 60s playing either at stand off or full back. In the summer he was a fast bowler for the cricket club 1st XI.
Ronnie played for Heriot’s against his brother Ken in the 1960 Melrose 7s final losing to Cambridge University. Ronnie played his first game for the 1st xv in September 1957 and his last game for the club was nearly two decades later for the unbeaten 6th XV in 1976.
On leaving school Ronnie qualified as a Chartered Surveyor but in later life he joined the Ministry and moved to become a Minister in the north of Scotland.
Ronnie’ Scotland’s funeral is at 4 pm on Wednesday 27th November at Warriston Crematorium, and thereafter at Heriot’s Rugby Club Pavilion.
(I had the pleasure of knowing Ronnie from 1943, when we were five years old in Class A at Heriot’s.)
