TEAM NEWS | Heriot’s Rugby v Watsonians Rugby | 22ND APRIL 2023

Heriot’s Rugby continue their Sprint 2023 campaign tomorrow as they welcome Watsonians Rugby to Goldenacre for Round 3 of the FOSROC Super Series Sprint.

Coaches Comments:

One change in the backs sees Mikey Gray come in for the injured Sam Pecqueur. The pack sees a bit of a reshuffle with Euan McVie coming into the 2nd row for a deserved first start, Charlie Jupp moving to 6 and Ruairidh Leishman returning at number 8. Wallace Nelson and Callum Anderson move to the replacements bench and are joined by Chris Anderson from Currie Chieftains, who provides emergency prop cover, and Euan McLaren, who returns from illness, in an otherwise unchanged and settled looking squad.

Another home match and another tough test at the start of this Sprint Series campaign. Watsonians have started in good form. They will have been disappointed with the final result against Edinburgh A last time out but they matched a very strong Edinburgh side for long portions of that game. They have a pretty settled group with a clear way of playing and I am sure will travel to Goldie determined to get back to winning ways.

For us, we have been really pleased with the progress the squad has made and Saturday’s match will provide another measure of just how far we’ve come. We were happy with large parts of our game versus Southern Knights, however we know we will need to create more pressure and harness momentum better than we managed to last week if we are to get anything from this match.
